Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate the amazing women that have given life to others. Whether you are celebrating your own mother, a friend who is a mother, or another maternal figure, Mother’s Day is the perfect way to give back. Dedicate some time on Sunday, May 12th to show your mom how much you appreciate her. There are a few things going on for Mother’s Day in Charlottesville, so keep reading if you need an idea on how to spend the day.

Treat Mom to Brunch & Wine

Why not celebrate Mother’s Day in Charlottesville with wine and brunch? For wine-lovers, there’s nothing more special than spending the afternoon with mom sipping on wine and eating amazing food. Several vineyards in the area are hosting Mother’s Day brunch including Veritas Vineyard & Winery, Barboursville Vineyards, and Trump Winery. Treat your mom to a delicious brunch paired with some of Virginia’s best wines. At Veritas, the Mother’s Day Brunch begins at 12:00 p.m. and will feature a four-course meal and wine pairings in Saddleback Hall. Reservations can be made online. Join the celebration at Barboursville Vineyards for their Mother’s Day Celebration from 1:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. The four-course lunch will be prepared by Chef Spencer Crawford. Located in the private Grand Hall, Trump Winery’s Mother’s Day brunch takes place from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Rather than a four-course meal, the brunch will be buffet style and includes a glass of Blanc de Blanc or a mimosa. Seating is open and reservations are for 90 minutes. Tickets will cost $64 each, with additional wines available for purchase. Barboursville is the furthest of these three wineries, about a 45-minute drive from Charlottesville, but the beautiful setting and award-winning wine are well worth the drive.

Take a Free Historic Tour

Both Montpelier and Poplar Forest are giving moms free tours in honor of Mother’s Day. If your mom hasn’t had the chance to visit these two historic sites, then this is the perfect opportunity to take her! As an affordable option to celebrate Mother’s Day in Charlottesville, the only cost will be tickets for any other member of your group that’s not a mom. Sorry, guys. Do something unique this year rather than doing what you usually do on Mother’s Day. Learn more about local history and bond with your mom at the same time. It’ll definitely be a day she won’t forget!

Crozet Arts & Crafts Festival

If your mom loves all things crafty, then take her to the Crozet Arts & Crafts Festival. As the spring festival occurs on Mother’s Day Weekend every year, why not start a new tradition? The event is at Claudius Crozet Park on Saturday, May 11th, from 10:00 a.m – 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 12th, from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Both weekend and single-day tickets are available for purchase, with a discounted rate for seniors and free entry for children under 12. Parking is available on site and is free of charge. Dog moms and dads, please leave your fur babies at home for this festival!
